Individual project
Proposal:
I will be doing a photography project. It will be a mix of nature and urban photography. The reason I will be doing this is that I have a passion for photography and photography is a way for me to express myself. I would like to develop my skills on photoshop so I can edit my pictures to give them a better look and give it a professional style.
For the nature side of the project, I will be taking pictures during the day. I will be using my iPhone 8 and a Sony DSC-HX350. I will be going around London and outside of London to take some photos of plants, greenery and the area around them.
For the urban side of the project, I will be taking pictures during the night/sunset around the centre of London like Westminster, Tower Bridge, and Canary Wharf. I will be using my iPhone 8 and a Sony DSC-HX350. For the urban photo, I will use a zoom in/out map effect. It will more likely be a short video around 20 to 30 seconds long with music.
Note 19/11/18; I will more than likely base this project on urban photography.
Primary research:

After looking at the answers to my questionnaire about the 1st photo, I found out that 83% (10) of people liked the edited photo and 16% (2) liked the none edited photo. 75% (9) of people thought that the picture looked good, 0% (0) of people thought it looked bad and 23% (3) had other options on the photo. Overall I positive feedback but I was told to work on my use and the type of colour used in this photo with the edit.

After looking at the answers to my questionnaire about the 2nd photo, I found out that 58% (7) of people liked The edited version and 41% (5) of people liked the original. 83% (10) thought that the picture was good, 8% (1) person thought it looked bad and 8% (1) had another option. Overall I had a mix/positive feedback with a lot of people not liking the lack of colour in the edited picture and the angel that the photo was shot from.

Secondary Research:
For my secondary research, I will be looking at urban photographer’s work to give me ideas and inspiration for my project.
One photographer I have found is Matt Stuart. He is a street photographer that is based in London. The reason I am looking into him is that he is based in London and he likes to use comedy in his photography, which I find amusing. The comedy part of him may not help me in my project but I would like to keep an open mind to see what techniques he has to offer and how I can implement some of his work into mine.
‘Matt Stuart loves street photography, and he made a documentary that went viral to prove it. He shoots mainly in London and probably has the best sense of humour out of anyone on this list. His work is compositionally on point using excellent angles and juxtapositional subject matter.’ – Complex
Another photography I have found is Anthony Danielle. He is an urban photography that is based in New York. He uses his iPhone to take photos. He takes photos for fun.
Technical research:
A technique I have found that I will more than likely use is a Map Zoom In/Out effect. The reason I will use this to make a mix of a video and a photography showcase. I will be using this technique as a test to see how it will come out. Depending on how it comes out depends on if I use it in my FMP or not.

Production:
I have started my production by taking a few test shots, seeing what angel work well and editing them. With this, I have made a questionnaire and sent it to people to get there opinions on the photos so I know what I can do better, some feedback that I got was to make the photo look more realistic.

I started to shoot my final photo and one problem I had was the weather, on the day of shooting it was really cold and wet. The way I overcame this was by working through it and keeping the vision I had in my head.

The one thing that I edited on the picture is making the phone screen black & white to show that taking a picture on your phone doesn’t show the full beauty from what you would normally see with your eyes. I used the Magnetic Lasso tool to go around my iPhone screen and just made that black and white.

Next off when I started to edit I had to screen record my computer monitor with the zoom in from google maps then cropped what I didn’t need as you can see from the 2 timelines. some problems I had was trying to get the map zoom in effect to work with the photo and to make the effect happen, after some trial and error I managed to get it done and in the video. After getting the zoom in from the map I added the picture with a cut to black transition next to it, then showing the picture with a keyframe zooming into the picture for a few seconds and final I added another cut to black transition with the text Screen down, Head up with a black background. The music used in the video is called 05.wav and it was made by SLR

Evaluation:
With the project being completed I am going to talk about the things that I did and what I think I could do better. First, of with the map zoom in effect, I feel it came out alright but I could have added a few effects to it to make it look a little better but overall I feel it came out alright, Secondly, I feel I could have made the picture look better if I had a tripod, with the tripod I could have shot the picture better and kept the same point of view/ angel with only needing to move the phone and finally I feel I could have done some planing with the photo instead of just going off a vision I had.

With this project, I feel I did alright with it. I can use with a little bit less of procrastinating. I mostly stay in with my proposal, I feel with my proposal I can make it less vague in the future but with the proposal being vague it gave me room to adapt and still keep the general idea in mind. Overall I feel I did an okay job but I know there is a lot to learn from this project and with what I learn I will use in my future projects and work. I will use this to reflect and keep improving my work within the next 2 years and the future.
Log Book:
Day 1 (19/11/18): On this day I have have been given the brief, I then wrote my Proposal and started to look into the research but I haven’t written anything down yet as I was just looking at this moment in time.
Day 2 (20/11/18): I have started to look into some urban photographers. One photographer I have seen is Matt Stuart. I have also started to plan out what, when and where to shoot for my photos. I did have a lack of motivation at the start of the day; what I did to overcome this is getting some music playing and looking at some urban photos that have been taken in and around London.
Day 3 (21/11/18): I have gone to Tower Bridge and took some test shots. I have also taken a few photos and edited them. I will pick the best photo and then add the map zoom in/out effect to it.
Day 4/17 (22/11/18)/(7/12/18): I have done my primary research, done my shooting, edited and uploaded my video. Some problems I had with the shooting of the final picture was the weather, It was too cold and wet on the day so I ended up taking fewer shots then I originally wanted to, I overcame this by trying to not think about this when I was shooting.
